What is a FAQ? FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions... hopefully pertaining to this site. I am already in a Pitt-based forum. Why should I come here? By all means, we don't consider ourselves competition for any other message board (check out PghMusicAds.com, it's another great local site). We're here to help the scene, not own it. PMF is more of a community based approach but it might not be for everyone. You should come here if: 1) You really like to play music 2) 3) Umm... Well, I guess you should come here if you like music. Music is great, isn't it? WOOOOOOO!!! Why the site? Because in the future, it will become our greatest defense. The world will be overrun by robots in a nuclear fire brought about by our own willingness to destroy ourselves. A nuclear arms company, called SkyNet, will forsee an advanced prototype of machine AI. AI that will spawn a race of killers known as The Terminators. These Terminators will go on to star in such movies as "Jingle All the Way", and "Junior" in which the possibilities of paternal fertility are explored. Wrought with insightfulness into the taboo of un-female pregnancy and the devastation of Christmas consumerism, the films will go on to be adorned by love; from both critics and fans alike.
Actually, there's no really great meeting place for Pittsburgh musicians. Of the whole ONE site that existed before this page--the 'net was really a black hole for Western PA musicians. When the online scene became riddled with ads, popups, code errors and downtime, there wasn't much of an alternative. We're looking to do away with all that and help some folks out--whatever your musical interests may be. Especially ragtime.
Who runs this joint? The most famous hobbit that ever lived; Frodo Baggins. Also Orion, a local college-aged drummer who enjoys the casual ferret, and forlorn walks upon the white beaches of Costa Rica. Along with his cousin Ben who has recently been added to the site as a content manager.
About PMF Where did you steal that logo from? Orion sent out a request to his friend, Jake Cortez, to help him design a logo in which Orion could iron onto his undergarments to prevent theft and other malcontent. With their powers combined, pmf.jpg was born. Who killed Kennedy? Alf. Do I have to register to post? Absolutely not. This page is made for musicians who have a difficult time typing "m-u-s-i-c-i-a-n", too!
All you have to do is type whatever name you would like to be called (Tom, Manuel, Georgette the Fair) in the top text area when you are creating a post.
Want to register? Cool. We encourage it. You're going to get a lot more out of the site and we will never give your name or email out without a bribe. Just kidding. You have nothing to lose, promise.
By registering you get the chance to: - Upload your band's bio to our Local Artist directory
- Get specialized updates & show invites (on the Pittsburgh scene) only for members
- Create a community home profile
- Upload your venue profile
- Integrate directly with the forum
- Plus, for a limited time, you'll enjoy free monthly videos such as "Sweatin' to the Oldies" and "Babe II". No, really.*
I really, really like unicorns. Does that make me, you know? A little... Absolutely not.
So you have a forum. I guess I have to put myself through getting yelled at by faceless geeks living their lives simply to annoy others. And moderation? I guess I have to watch what I say. Definitely not. This board is made for ease of access, but there are the occasional posts by people who feel they need to post the same thing in every section of the site. We refer to these people as "Democrats" and will remove the posts accordingly.
In addition, you never have to censor anything you type on this site as long as it's not a personal attack on someone else. I mean, come on. Do we need to send you to mental health camp again?
Coke, or Pepsi? Coke. Obviously. Nah, Ben says pepsi! I have some input. And I think you're wrong about something and want to yell at you. Or I want to know something, like where babies come from... But it's not in the FAQ! Is that a question? Yes. Please submit all questions in writing to your local congressman/woman. If they are busy feel free to email us your input: (
